The pathway to Knowledge is paved with Love. The measure of distance is unusually incomprehensible. The vision of Destiny is absolutely unfathomable. That Faith is required begs the question.

ARISTOTLE DISCOVERED / SHARED WITH OTHERS

The leader leads only one’s self.

The leader has questions.

The leader seeks answers.

The leader knows not to depend on bias or the overheard opinions of others.

The Leader may be an artist, a miner, a home-maker, but for this endeavor the most important tool is objectivity; for this moment in time The Leader is a Scientist.

The life of The Scientist is focused not on a goal but the path. TRUTH must come to us slowly and the truest of theses truth reveal only that which was yesterdays future. True knowledge cannot be known because the future is never ending, l but knowledge is as close to truth as this inquiring mind may come.

The Leader listens. The Leader eventually understands that to stay on the path is a form of obedience, perhaps even worship this path. (note: Taoism)

Truth is Not Exclusive.

012

Truth is not exclusive.

It is hidden everywhere in plain sight

It is visible at night.

It is never right and certainly never wrong.

It moves along

Meandering here and there.

Truth is not exclusive.

It can be told many ways.

With a burr or a lisp

As the tellers gaze

Reveals yet more.

Exclusive?

Never.

It can be told in many ways.

Many, many ways.

THE GREATEST DETERENT TO TRUTH: the Obsession for proof.

Q: What can be learned when an issue generates only two conflicting opinions?

A: Only that someone has remained silent?

The level of respect due for the beliefs of others must be based not on what they believe but on their ability to gather reliable information.

Popular opinion requires no truth.

Those who join sides miss the point.

Friendship does not come easily to Free Thinkers.

The key to Freedom is Courage. The Padlock is pressure to conform.

If I could persuade others to think as I do, I would encourage them to seek answers to every question that enters their minds and to then question the answers.

I was asked what I revered above all else. “Freedom”, I replied.
“And how do you feel about Fairness?”
“What a silly question.” I thought. “In order to be treated Fairly, one must first lose their Freedom.”

I did not reply.

ARISTOTLE ON HOW TO THINK

Aristotle discovered new ideas through experimentation. Motivated like any other living creature,  moving about on hands and knees, baby Ari  sought to improve his lot in life  by solving puzzles and increasing his awareness. As he moved about, bumping into this and that one can easily imagine his mother giving him a word now and then as labels for his successes.

There and are no completed works of this man; he began life and ended it the same way; by seeking safety. During the last year of his life, Aristotle fled what he perceived to bea dangerous new government and spent the last year of his life living with his mother in her home. About the only thing known about this time in his life is that he died of a belly ache.

THE TRUTH ABOUT HONESTY, HONESTLY

THE TRUTH ABOUT HONESTY, HONESTLY

I was at my favorite meeting yesterday morning. We are a small group of fifteen or so people who try to live a spiritual life.

We invite a guest speaker who talks about his or her spiritual discoveries at the end of which talk a topic is forthcoming.

The chairperson mentioned that with only fifteen people, there would be two groups and that the smokers would congregate outside.

Our speaker gave a fascinating talk which included tales of watching the heavens from a sleeping bag in fifty countries around the world and a word or two about having once had a job but that he preferred traveling.

It was the speaker’s responsibility to choose a topic; the topic was HONESTY.

When we broke into groups I joined the smokers for the freedom that the patio had to offer. Our speaker joined us outside, he at one end of the table, I at the other.

So…

What does one say about HONESTY? The truth of any subject is hidden from us; that is to say that the truth of everything is guarded by the future. That is why we measure everything.

The truth of speed is measured in MPH or FPS. Life experience is measured in years, months perhaps seconds. But HONESTY?

A lie is easier to understand but like HONESTY it cannot be measured. Does HONESTY even exist? Perhaps if we subjected the quality of HONESTY  to the power of something else, but what? Perception perhaps? Or awareness?

Each of these words imply that perhaps there is no HONESTY, but what? Belief? If our beliefs change over time would not the person whose life is being guided by these beliefs have a change at least, in attitude?

Is attitude a synonym for HONESTY? A modifier? A quality? These were the thoughts I had and which I shared with the group. Our guest seemed puzzled by the change in what was now being said about this subject and when the metamorphous reached his end of the table,  agreed that HONESTY was a difficult topic.

Next week I think I’ll stay indoors. HONEST(L)Y.

Update: Perhaps SINCERELY.

Bill and Eileen

My son, whose brief but popular career as a nightclub comic, once told me that his formula for creating stand-up jokes was one he learned from others of his ilk. His method: make a ridiculous statement; then prove it. Hmmm;

I am not thinking of a white rhinoceros. I know this because I am saddled to an elephant hippety- hopping hither and yon. (If this isn’t funny perhaps it ‘s because I am not standing up. Try hippety hopping astride an elephant some time…or atop a white rhinoceros.)

A MESSAGE TO AGING INVENTORS

A MESSAGE TO AGING INVENTORS

Self-employed people seem to live longer and, appear to be younger than the salaried majority. Wrinkles and age spots go unnoticed as their audience responds instead to this fountain of youthful enthusiasm.

These are the scientists, the artists and the curious. They are the Leaders in society, a label given them by those who look to others  for the answers to their own questions.

There are very few skeptics among them and rarely look to others for their answers.

If curiosity haunts you, if a lack of trust in the shared opinions of others taunts, perhaps you spend more time than most, seeking answers to your own questions.

Or…

If you are curious about the validity of the set of ideas set forth in this essay, perhaps you will share you opinion of such…

Or…

If you’ve already forgotten the first line, feel free to read it again.
