XERO ATICUS & THE PSYCHEDELIC TOAD GET DOWN
(A conversation between Xero Aticus
and the Psychedelic Toad.)
Lee Broom

PSYCHO: Hey there XERO ATICUS. You have that lost look on your face again. ‘sup?

XERO: Dude…YOU MIGHT TRY ADDRESSING ME AS MR. ATICUS

PSYCHO: Well….

XERO: Well what?

PSYCHO: (The Look.)

XERO: Don’t look at me that way.

PSYCHO: (The Look.)

XERO:  You’re giving me that PSYCHEDELIC TOAD look. Stop it please.

PSYCHO:  Well…..

XERO:  Okay…..I need to make amends with someone and I can’t.

PSYCHO: What’s stoppin’ ya?

XERO: I’m not sure what to do.

PSYCHO: Howsabout starting with an apology?

XERO: Well, that hasn’t worked out so well either.

PSYCHO: What happened; don’t tell me; you forgot to pay your AT&T bill, right?

XERO: Don’t get psychedelic on me, Wart Face.

PSYCHO: You sure do a lot of bellyaching, MR. ATICUS. Go on.

XERO: Alright, already; so I write this email, see?

PSYCHO: An email; okay.

XERO: Yeah, an email; it starts out okay but by the time I get to the fifth line I sound angry
again.

PSYCHO: Okay…

XERO: Okay. That’s it. I need ideas. Got any?

PSYCHO: Stop at the third line.

XERO:  Oh.

“What is forgiveness?”

Lee Broom        January 14 2014

“From a recent conversation:

He had searched for advice on how to handle one of the most troubling experience of his life. It was worse than losing a client. It was worse than losing a wife. it was worse than being told he had a life threatening disease. “What do I do?” he asked. (How could he not know the answer?) The answer came from an old friend; it was in the form of a question:

Q: “What is forgiveness?” came the ‘answer’ posing as a question. A: “Forgiveness is Love” he replied.     “Forgiveness is the operative description of Love. Love is not a human thing. The human thing is Fear also known as Dishonesty.

The Source for Love (and Forgiveness) is God. So, to experience Love (Forgiveness) is to Accept Love. (But according to Lao Tzu and the first Buddha, even an atheist can experience Love simply by doing Loving things for others).

Still, to lose the Love of one’s children is incredibly painful. And though pain feels like a gift from The Liar of All Things, it  is in reality a ‘ Gift’ from The Giver of All Things.”

The bias of a lynch mob brought his  family together And He began again To write.

The bias is the memory of a family not together And He began again To right… Wrongs.”

UNDERSTANDING THE AGNOSTIC “POINT OF VIEW”

“It is the Agnostic who speaks of  ‘God as I understand Him’.
It is the Agnostic who struggles to live a life free of bias.
It is the agnostic who sees the similarities between the Atheists in our society and the Fanatically Religious. And…
It is the Agnostic who says “I have no desire to change you; I believe that we all have the freedom to make those decisions for ourselves; I’m Okay/You’re Okay.”

What we say to ourselves determines what and who we believe.
How we say it determines who we are and what we are to become.”

AGNOSTICISM AND ACCEPTANCE AND BILL W.

lee_broom

In  April of 1961, my hero, Bill W. finally recognized that his early published opinions on FAITH as a requirement for sobriety were biased and implied in a Grapevine article,  an underlying sense of guilt over having been the voice that sent faithless derelicts back to whatever had been their previous destinies.

If an idea is worth spreading then the TRUTH must be an answer to a question.

Bill did a lot of research during his sober years though little of it made its way into print.  His zeal and enthusiasm for spreading the word led him to rely less on research and more on his experience; proof rather than questions.

He lumped humanity into two spiritual groups, those who worship a Deity and those who don’t. He lumped Agnostics into the pile of Atheists. He never demonstrated the understanding that  Atheists belong in the same pile as those with religious ideas; both groups compete for the mantle of Most Knowledgeable about GOD.

It is the Agnostic who speaks of “God as I understand “Him”.

How we say it determines who we are and what we are to become.
