I AM I DO
Lee Broom

Our first scream is an involuntary response to the first gasp. It occurs at the moment of our first sensation of fear; our first decision, our first affirmation and our initial attempt at managing our place in this new world.

This first noisy protest is interrupted with cradled arms and soft, cooing Mommy Words, which lend a hint that this dangerous world into which we have been thrust has an oasis of safety; ours for the price of a scream.

The calming voice, the gentle words are familiar to the newly initiated. The touch of Mother’s hands are a new sensation but it too is somehow, known.

Our first scientific experiment has begun.

This is our first experience at asking for and receiving Love, a sensation which will in future decades become confused with Approval.

Our  experiments will become more sophisticated if not necessarily objective; life and the events that greet us will be measured, examined, dissected and reassembled as we seek to secure Maximum Safety.

Life may be more difficult for those of us who have missed the touching and the softly spoken words of gentle parenting. Perhaps we ask for help.

Later, in the language of Mommy Words we may even ask another, untouched soul “May I lend a hand?”

And a Spark of The Spirit ignites the flame of LOVE.

THE EVERNESS OF NOW

bathroom 1 014

When you were entered the world someone slapped your tiny buttocks, your lungs began to work and what began  as a gasp became your first complaint, your first impression of fear and thus began your journey in search for the safety that had just been snatched away and you hatched as  your beautiful new self.

You were handed to your mother…

You recognized her immediately; those soft cooing words that erased the presence of fear.

And when one day your search for safety led you stumbled into an unsafe high, you placed yourself in danger.

Your search was in vain and eventually you reached out to a larger pair of arms and discovered the source of the Love that met you and protected you at birth.

You accepted God,s Love and you passed it on.

Eventually, the ultimate safe place became HOME. And you and I began to understand THE EVERNESS OF NOW.

BIRTH LIFE DEATH / IDEA PATH GOAL

BIRTH LIFE DEATH

BIRTH

When we decide as children how to live our lives our thinking begins with the assumption that we will always be children. Our first observation when born is the absence of safety to which we had become accustomed prior to birth. Fortunately we are not aware during those first weeks of gestation the danger of being annihilated as the solution to an argument between prospective parents. Life will soon be discovered to be very dangerous.

LIFE

By age two we will have discovered a way to alter our behavior in a manner that will lend us some measure of safety as we live our lives among giants. We become compliant, or perfect or strong, failing at that at least noted for trying to be those things.

As preschoolers we may or may not learn about goal setting but we will soon receive our training in such matters as we answer daily roll call at whatever elementary school is nearby.

We will learn that our lives are not forever and that our focus on danger may be diminished by our careful and thoughtful search for safety. Our education will now be spent learning that our social world is made up mostly of friendly people and that by continuing to keep ourselves among others of similar beliefs as we acquire and affirm our values offers increased safety.

DEATH

Some of us discover and share our discoveries which fall within a general theme of spirituality. Though few of us have any real evidence of these discoveries our experience seems to change us. We find a source of Love, quite unlike its opposite that seems to vanquish this Fear which has till now been the greatest gift of Life. We no longer fear even death itself.

IDEA PATH GOAL
IDEA

The birth of an idea is much like the birth of life itself and the future of that idea is much like the birth of the individual who gave this idea life and affirmed that new life by creating a goal. This goal will be the Death of the idea.

PATH

?????????? Some say focus on the goal and some say when in doubt, do the next thing without judging, without predicting without expectation.

GOAL
It is a popular idea to stay focused on the goal. When we do that however we are focusing on the death of the idea.
