THE GREATEST DETERENT TO TRUTH: the Obsession for proof.

Q: What can be learned when an issue generates only two conflicting opinions?

A: Only that someone has remained silent?

The level of respect due for the beliefs of others must be based not on what they believe but on their ability to gather reliable information.

Popular opinion requires no truth.

Those who join sides miss the point.

Friendship does not come easily to Free Thinkers.

The key to Freedom is Courage. The Padlock is pressure to conform.

If I could persuade others to think as I do, I would encourage them to seek answers to every question that enters their minds and to then question the answers.

I was asked what I revered above all else. “Freedom”, I replied.
“And how do you feel about Fairness?”
“What a silly question.” I thought. “In order to be treated Fairly, one must first lose their Freedom.”

I did not reply.

ARISTOTLE ON HOW TO THINK

Aristotle discovered new ideas through experimentation. Motivated like any other living creature,  moving about on hands and knees, baby Ari  sought to improve his lot in life  by solving puzzles and increasing his awareness. As he moved about, bumping into this and that one can easily imagine his mother giving him a word now and then as labels for his successes.

There and are no completed works of this man; he began life and ended it the same way; by seeking safety. During the last year of his life, Aristotle fled what he perceived to bea dangerous new government and spent the last year of his life living with his mother in her home. About the only thing known about this time in his life is that he died of a belly ache.

AGE-RELATED PERCEPTION OF TIME: FORGET IT.

“Cycling the Blue Nile Gorge Ethiopia, we came from the other side. Last night we went to sleep to the sounds of Hyenas. We climbed about 6000’ feet and it was plenty hot, I could have used a few more gears!”
Morris Scott.
Age: Sixties. Bicycling across Africa.

As we age time flies.

If we attempt to slow it down it gets worse.

Its bad enough that we have to leave life, worse yet that we are aware of the problem and absolutely insulting that there appears to be no solution to this small but terrifying collection of horrors.

However…

There are a great many things that affect one’s perception of time.

In fact, it is probably safe to say that there are no two humans for whom such details are remotely similar. One might even extend that observation by factoring in a minus sign for lower vertebrates, or even the lowest forms of life or perhaps even rocks.

No, I’m not kidding.

But that is not the subject.

What I am leading up to is that all these different perceptions fit into the same envelope.

This envelope has one label, one definition, one rule.

Are you ready?

All memory when recalled is viewed not as a constant but as an exact percentage of the life of each retriever, and becomes smaller with each passing second or fragment thereof.

I’m guessing that few of us are aware of this envelope and that most of us notice the increasing speed with which time flies. Add to this the fact that those of us with less to do tend to worry more, therefore adding one more difficulty by becoming attached to this problem.

If you find this knowledge frightening yet compelling, and you are tempted to seek a way to  slow time down…

Forget it.

I mean that literally.

Forget it.

One cannot overcome anxiety about anything at all.

However…

any unwanted activity no matter how heavily addictive,  can be replaced.

Our focus on life can be redirected.

The so-called  St Francis prayer asks for such changes.

And, virtually everyone in recovery from drugs, alcohol or self-destructive, problem-solving techniques get clean and sober by accepting the love of people like themselves and passing it on to those who still suffer.

Accept The Love and pass it on.

SMILE,DAMMIT

SMILE,DAMMIT

Conceit, haughtiness, egoism, feelings of superiority, excessive self-pride, overconfidence, superciliousness, self-importance and condescension are the descriptions of we whose true feelings more accurately could be labeled as sadness,  an emotion  which then threatens the hearts and minds of those in its presence.

Conceit is the opposite of pride, the enemy of dignity and the destructive force that limits friendship and destroys Love.

Pride on the other hand is an expression of Love.

A closer look at  conceit may well reveal the existence of an enormous,  secret fear  so devious as to escape detection even by the owner.

A smile however, bonds those who wear it and replaces that glimmer of bravado that says “you can’t touch me. “

Oops. you caught me talking to myself.

Smile, dammit.

LOVE BECOMES THE LOVER.(Re-edited and amended 10/19/2017)

LOVE BECOMES THE LOVER

To Love is to Heal.

To Accept Love is to Be Healed.

Healing begins when Fear is vanquished.

Fear returns to the shadows and birds begin to chirp.

Fear reveals itself again as first light dawns and wanes as…

The Light of Love is felt with the decision to Accept.

Acceptance lights the Path.

The Path is NOW

This is the way,.

To Heal;

To be Healed.

Love becomes the Lover.

And Fear becomes a fading memory.

Accept the LOVE and pass it on.
